Meet The Artist

Heyo! My name is Madeline, and I work under the name XenoJax. I create art in my home of South Texas.

I have been drawing and creating characters ever since I could remember. Though not a very out-going child, I still had big life ambitions that I wanted to fulfill. Everyone around me always said that I’d become a famous artist one day, and although my goal wasn’t necessarily to become famous, I still latched onto the idea of making my craft my career.

I spent a lot of my time drawing, making up stories, and creating books for myself. I used to be very inspired by the graphic novel genre, and would turn tiny composition books I bought at the bookfair into my own comics. Maybe I can really write a book someday, who knows!

Back when I had no knowledge of the furry fandom, I had gotten my start making Youtube videos about my Littlest Pet Shop toys at the age of 11. That’s when I created my first persona, Jacki. A grey wolf with pink hair and a mysterious mask. My sights shifted over to the Five Nights at Freddy’s community, where my online art presence jumpstarted and where I made my first online friends.

I finally heard about furries through my involvment, and began my research. I felt greatly drawn to furry creators like Stormi the Folf, PocariRoo, SkyeHigh Studios, and Neffertity. That’s when I decided that this fandom was for me.

At first, I did not believe I would be the type of person to want a fursuit. But overtime, the idea started to become more and more enticing. I was 14 at the time with hardly any money, so I made the big step of creating my first fursuit. She was, well… rough. But I loved it so much, and it drove me to want to create more of my characters as suits. After a handful of new suits to wear, I had an epiphany: what if this was my calling?

As I grew, my fursona evolved. No longer was I a wolf of teenage angst, but an opossum with something important to share.

So, that brings us to right here. I have gained so many opportunities, so many new friends, and honed so many new skills. my fursuit and art business, XenoJax Studios, has been on a steady incline as I work to put my name out there. It has been hard, and I have questioned whether I truly had the strength and resilience to pull this off. But seeing people give me a chance, and seeing people get so emotional after receiving my art… those types of things give me my answer. So I thank you, each and every one of you, for seeing the potential in me even when I sometimes couldn’t see it in myself. The community you’ve helped build has been life-changing beyond words.
